  1. 1

    Stop 1 · stay ~10m

    Praça do Comércio

Start at the river arch. Face the Tagus and turn left into the old town.

Backpacker pro-tip · Public toilets under the arch are €0.50 and the cleanest you will find today.

  2. 2

    Stop 2 · stay ~15m

    Sé Cathedral

Romanesque fortress-church. The tram 28 rattles past every few minutes — perfect for motion shots.

Backpacker pro-tip · Shoot at 1/30s from the curve uphill for the classic tram blur.

  3. 3

    Stop 3 · stay ~25m

    Miradouro de Santa Luzia

Bougainvillea, azulejo panels and terracotta roofs falling to the river.

Backpacker pro-tip · The kiosk at Portas do Sol next door sells €2 ginjinha in chocolate cups.

    Local cost: €2 ginjinha
  4. 4

    Stop 4 · stay ~20m

    Castelo de São Jorge walls

Walk the outside of the walls — you get the same views without the €15 entry.

Backpacker pro-tip · Peacocks roam the lane by the north gate. Bring patience, not bread.

  5. 5

    Stop 5 · stay ~30m

    Miradouro da Graça

Pine trees, a terrace café and a view straight across to the castle.

Backpacker pro-tip · Arrive 40 min before sunset — the good wall spots go fast.

    Local cost: €1.80 Super Bock
  6. 6

    Stop 6 · stay ~35m

    Senhora do Monte

The highest viewpoint in Lisbon. Finish here as the city lights come on.

Backpacker pro-tip · Steep final climb — the stairs on Calçada do Monte are shorter than the road.

Cobbles are slick after rain. Wear grippy shoes.
